Brgy. Pigkalagan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte — April 17, 2025
A joint anti-drug operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) led to the arrest of a high-value target and the confiscation of an estimated Php1.36 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pigkalagan.
The operation, carried out by combined units of the PNP, resulted in the apprehension of a 35-year-old laborer who was caught red-handed in possession of approximately 200 grams of the illegal substance. The suspect’s four alleged accomplices, including one identified only as “Mike,” managed to escape. During their flight, the suspects fired at pursuing law enforcers, striking one police officer who was fortunately unharmed, thanks to his bulletproof vest.
Recovered from the scene were several pieces of drug paraphernalia, marked buy-bust money, a motorcycle believed to have been used in the transaction, and multiple spent bullet shells. The inventory and documentation of evidence were conducted on-site in the presence of a barangay official and members of the local media.
The arrested suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Authorities are continuing their manhunt for the escaped suspects.
“This operation demonstrates our relentless anti-drug efforts, even during Holy Week. The PNP remains steadfast in safeguarding our communities from the scourge of illegal drugs,” said PBGEN MACAPAZ, Regional Director of Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR).
The PNP assures the public that it will continue its crackdown against illegal drug operations across the region.
