TUBOD, Lanao del Norte — More than 1,700 Provincial Volunteer Health Workers (PVHWs) gathered on April 2, 2025, at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium for the 15th PVHW Congress—a heartfelt celebration of the dedication and service of healthcare volunteers across the province.

The event was graced by key government leaders, including 1st District Representative Cong. Khalid Dimaporo, 2nd District Representative Cong. Sittie Aminah Dimaporo, and AnaKalusugan Partylist Representative Cong. Ray T. Reyes, who served as guest speaker. In his address, Cong. Reyes highlighted the vital contributions of PVHWs in bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities.

“This is not just a ceremony, but a reminder that your contributions will never be forgotten,” he said. “Your service is a source of inspiration for all and serves as a beacon of hope for the province.”

The congress also featured discussions on pressing health-related concerns. PCapt. Ruby Jimenez, representing PCOL Roy Magsalay of the PNP Lanao del Norte, shared updates on the province’s intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign. Provincial Population Officer Ananette Daniel emphasized family planning as a key strategy for alleviating poverty, especially among couples. Meanwhile, Karl Lumaque of the Provincial Health Office provided updates on local health programs, and Vincent Astillero, Chief of Blood Services of Red Cross Lanao del Norte, discussed the critical role of Red Cross in supporting public health.

Adding further significance to the event was the presence of Senator Bong Go, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, and actor Philip Salvador. Senator Go expressed his deep appreciation for the health volunteers, reiterating his full support for their efforts and the expansion of Super Health Centers nationwide.

“Don’t thank me,” Senator Go said. “I should be the one thanking you for giving me the opportunity to serve you.”

Provincial Vice Governor Allan J. Lim and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan were also present, including Hon. Cristy Atay, Chair of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, along with Hon. Grecille Matalines, Hon. Reinario Bihag, Hon. Eleuterio Obial Jr., Hon. Sidick Dibaratun, Hon. Abdany Buanding, and Hon. Superman Usop Jr.—all of whom expressed their unwavering support for the PVHWs.

The 15th PVHW Congress served not only as a celebration of the dedication and hard work of the province’s health volunteers but also as a reaffirmation of the strong partnership between community health workers and local government leaders. The event concluded with renewed energy and a shared commitment to continue delivering accessible, quality healthcare to the people of Lanao del Norte.
