CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Barangay Kauswagan was honored as the Most Child-Friendly Barangay in the city during the PASUNDAYAG Oro Kasanag Awards held at the Centrio Ayala Event Center on March 13. The recognition was presented by the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC).

Barangay Balulang secured the 2nd Most Child-Friendly Barangay title, while Barangay Agusan placed 3rd, Barangay Gusa claimed 4th, and Barangays Bugo and Macasandig tied for 5th Most Child-Friendly Barangay.

Special Awards and Recognitions

Barangay Kauswagan stood out by receiving multiple special awards, including:

  • Special Recognition for Exemplary Initiatives in Implementing Barangay Nutrition Program
  • Special Citation for Best Community Engagement Initiatives
  • Special Citation for Best Partnerships and Linkages

Meanwhile, Barangay Balulang was recognized with the following distinctions:

  • Special Recognition for Outstanding Adolescent Friendly Health Facilities
  • Special Recognition for Intensive Online Campaigns and Information Dissemination Initiatives
  • Outstanding Data Recording and Management for Cases Involving Children and Children in Conflict with the Law

Barangay Bugo received the Special Recognition for Innovative Efforts in Addressing Learners at Risk, while Barangay Iponan was recognized for having the Most Child-Friendly Early Childhood Care and Development Facilities.

Both Barangay Balulang and Barangay Kauswagan earned the Special Commendation for Barangay Officials in Upholding Child-Friendly Services Reflected in Governance.

Consistent Excellence

Barangay Kauswagan’s latest achievement marks its consecutive wins in 2023 and 2024, making it a candidate for the Hall of Fame for the city’s Most Child-Friendly Barangay distinction.

The PASUNDAYAG Oro Kasanag Awards is aligned with the Seal of Child-Friendly Police Station initiative, encouraging barangays to strengthen their efforts in protecting children’s rights and promoting child welfare in their communities.
