Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi – The Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government marked a significant milestone on February 13, 2025, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the MBLT-12 platoon-size barracks in Batu-Batu, Panglima Sugala. The project aims to bolster security and reinforce the military’s presence in the area, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening regional stability.
Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali, represented by Board Member Dayang Carlsum S. Jumaide, led the event alongside key officials and uniformed personnel. Also in attendance were Ms. Merna Isa, Ms. Zelda Abduraja, Ms. Sitti Kausar Kairan Aming, Col. Dante B. Grasparil PN (M) (MNSA), and LTCOL Ferdinand O. Sarto PN (M) (GSC).
The ceremony followed a formal structure, beginning with a welcoming address from a commanding officer, setting the tone for the event. BM Jumaide delivered a message on behalf of Governor Sali, expressing strong support for the initiative and emphasizing the provincial government’s dedication to enhancing security infrastructure.
A symbolic highlight of the event was the burial of the blueprint, a traditional practice signifying the official commencement of construction. This act reinforced the commitment of all stakeholders involved in improving military facilities in Tawi-Tawi.
The construction of the barracks is expected to provide much-needed accommodations for the MBLT-12 personnel, ensuring better operational efficiency and readiness. As security remains a top priority, this development marks a progressive step towards fortifying peace and order in the region.
