Lamitan City, Basilan – A college teacher is fighting for his life after being repeatedly shot by motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay Sengal, Lamitan City, Basilan, on Saturday night.
The victim, identified as Johnus Flores Lim, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body. Lim is a faculty member at Furigay College Incorporated in Lamitan City, one of the provinces within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
According to Lamitan City Police Chief Lt. Col. Elmer Solon, the attack took place while Lim was seated on his parked motorcycle along the roadside in Sitio Baroy, Barangay Sengal. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached him, fired several shots, and quickly fled the scene.
The incident occurred just three days after another fatal ambush in Barangay Malinis, Lamitan City, where businessman Abduraza Saidde Madiza was shot dead. Madiza was on his way home to Barangay Limook when armed men lying in wait attacked him and escaped on motorcycles.
