January 7, 2025, marked a significant step toward peace as a successful rido (clan feud) settlement was conducted between COB Silongan, Pekel Silongan, and Janin A. Sulaiman, Rahib Nawal at the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Battalion (6IB) of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID) of the Philippine Army in Sitio Landing Fish, Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.
The settlement was spearheaded by the Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (PSRO) in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Datu Piang, led by Honorable Victor Samama Al-Hajj.
The conflict between the two families originated in 2022 in Barangay Balnaken, Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur. Through the concerted efforts of the PSRO, LGU, and other stakeholders, the settlement paved the way for reconciliation and the restoration of harmony between the involved parties.
As part of the resolution process, the LGU of Datu Piang extended financial assistance to the family of the victim, symbolizing a commitment to fostering lasting peace and supporting affected families.
This settlement reflects the community’s resilience and dedication to addressing conflicts through dialogue and mutual understanding, showcasing the effectiveness of collaborative peace-building initiatives in the region.
