CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) has declared the New Year celebration across Northern Mindanao as “generally peaceful,” with no major incidents reported during the transition to 2025.

As of 6:00 AM on January 1, 2025, PRO10 reported a total of three firecracker-related incidents and two cases of illegal discharge of firearms from December 23 to December 31, 2024. Fortunately, these incidents resulted in no significant injuries, underscoring the effectiveness of preventive measures in the region.

In its intensified campaign against prohibited firecrackers, PRO10 confiscated approximately PhP150,867.00 worth of illegal firecrackers in various operations throughout the region. The proactive measures were part of a broader effort to ensure a safe and orderly celebration for all residents.

PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, attributed the peaceful New Year revelry to the vigilance of police personnel and the active cooperation of the public.

“Our proactive security measures, combined with the unwavering support of the community, have ensured that the New Year festivities in Northern Mindanao remained orderly and safe. We extend our gratitude to everyone for their cooperation and vigilance. Together, we will continue to work towards a safer and more secure community for all,” he said.

PBGEN De Guzman also highlighted the dedication of police officers who worked tirelessly during the holiday period to maintain peace and order. He commended their efforts and encouraged continued community engagement to address potential security concerns.

PRO10 assured the public that police personnel would remain on heightened alert in the coming days to ensure the safety and security of residents as they return to work and school after the holidays. The office reiterated its commitment to upholding public safety through sustained efforts and community partnerships.
