Mawab, Davao de Oro – The 10th Infantry (Agila) Division reaffirmed its commitment to education and community development by organizing a meaningful gift-giving event for Indigenous People (IP) scholars. On January 4, 2025, the division distributed essential items, including clothing and footwear, to forty scholars of the TATAG IP Students Foundation Incorporated.

Lieutenant Colonel Melchor H. Torayno, the 10ID Division Chaplain, spearheaded the event, emphasizing the division’s dedication to nurturing the potential of these young individuals. “We encourage them to persevere in their studies, as education will enable them to uplift their families and communities, steering them away from the false ideologies of the New People’s Army (NPA) they once faced,” he stated.
The Agila troopers collectively contributed the gifts, with donations gathered during Misa de Gallo and Sunday services held in December 2024. This annual initiative underscores the division’s holistic approach to counterinsurgency, focusing on empowerment through education and community support.
By fostering resilience among IP scholars and promoting academic perseverance, the 10th Infantry Division aims to build a future where these communities can thrive free from negative influences. The event stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the military and local communities in pursuit of progress and peace.
