Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat – A total of 29 firearms were voluntarily surrendered by 27 Barangay Chief Executives in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, marking a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts of the military, local government, and community to address loose firearms in the region. This initiative underscores the effectiveness of coordinated campaigns to promote peace and security.



The collection effort was supervised by 1LT Arjie Joseph Q. Lascuña, Officer-in-Charge of Bravo (Braves) Company, as part of the battalion’s sustained mission to mitigate the proliferation of firearms in its area of operation. The endeavor aligns with the National Campaign on Loose Firearms/Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and was conducted in partnership with the 603rd “Persuader” Brigade, Palimbang Municipal Police Station (MPS), Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, 2nd Sultan Kudarat Police Mobile Force Company (2nd SKPMFC), and the Local Government Unit of Palimbang.
This surrender follows extensive public information campaigns aimed at educating citizens about the dangers of loose firearms and the importance of responsible gun ownership. These efforts have been instrumental in fostering trust and cooperation among stakeholders.
Hon. Joenime B. Kapina, Mayor of Palimbang, expressed his gratitude to all involved agencies for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in the municipality. “Yakapin na natin ang kapayapaan at iwasan na natin ang karahasan sa pamamagitan ng pagsurrender ng ating loose firearms lalo na sa papalapit na eleksyon,” he urged, emphasizing the importance of collective action to ensure a safer and more secure community.
BGEN Michael A. Santos PA, Commander of the 603rd “Persuader” Brigade, commended the dedication of barangay officials in advancing this campaign. “This wouldn’t be possible without the diligent efforts of barangay officials in accomplishing this campaign. The surrender of loose firearms is opportune amid the election gun ban. Let’s urge our communities to turn in remaining firearms for a peaceful environment,” he stated.
The 37th Infantry Battalion (37IB) reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to its mission of serving the people and protecting the land. Recognizing the challenges faced by local communities, the battalion highlighted the importance of fostering strong partnerships with local government units, community organizations, and residents to achieve a unified approach to security and development.
