“PagbaBAGO Bags Reach Students in Basilan”

Basilan, a culturally rich island province in the Philippines known for its Yakan, Sama, Tausug, and other indigenous tribes, recently received a special visit from the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Staff members traveled by sea to deliver essential educational supplies aimed at inspiring students from diverse communities.

The OVP’s Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Satellite Office spearheaded the distribution, providing school bags filled with supplies and dental kits. A total of 430 learners in Basilan received the bags in October 2024, bringing smiles and hope to students who were excited to start the new academic season well-equipped.

The OVP expressed deep gratitude to the Society of Moro Arkitek (SoMA), Mr. Ibno Hajar D. Turabin, and several private individuals who contributed to the success of the project. Through their collaboration, the PagbaBAGO bags reached students across the island, symbolizing unity and commitment to the educational welfare of Basilan’s youth.

“Thank you” echoed in the native phrase Ibu Ibu Pagsarang Sukur Si Kaam Kemon, as the community celebrated this initiative that embodies hope and support for the future of Basilan.
