Over 5,000 Farmers in Special Geographic Area Receive Financial Aid from MAFAR

In an ongoing effort to support farmers affected by drought, more than 5,000 farmers from the Special Geographic Area (SGA) have received ₱5,000 each in cash assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR).

The initiative, led by MAFAR Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., aims to uplift the livelihoods of farmers grappling with unforeseen natural calamities. This financial aid underscores the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of the agricultural sector.

Assistant to the Provincial Director for SGA, Disumimba Rasheed, spearheaded the distribution process, supported by his team and staff from the Maguindanao Provincial Office. The assistance reached farmers from five municipalities within the SGA, including Pahamudin, Ligawasan, Kapalawan, and Kaabacan Municipality.

MAFAR-SGA has also assured that the remaining municipalities in the area will receive similar support before the end of 2024, with distributions for these areas scheduled for December.

This initiative is part of MAFAR’s broader commitment to building resilience among farmers and ensuring that they have the means to recover and sustain their livelihoods amidst challenges posed by climate-related adversities.
