The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Zamboanga del Norte celebrated a milestone as it officially handed over eight completed irrigation projects to local Irrigators Associations (IAs) during a ceremony at the NIA Function Hall in Dipolog City.
Key officials, including Division Manager Engr. Girlie Detalla, representatives from the Provincial Governor’s Office, IA leaders, and farmer beneficiaries, attended the turnover event.
The completed projects are:
- Sibutad Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) CY 2022
- Sibutad SPIP CY 2023
- Lituban Communal Irrigation System (CIS) & Extension (CY 2023 Resto CIS)
- Lituban CIS & Extension (CY 2023 OFW Partylist)
- Malugas Pump Irrigation System (PIS)
- San Jose CIS
- Sto. Niño CIS
These projects, spanning various municipalities, are designed to enhance water supply for irrigation, boost agricultural productivity, and ultimately improve the quality of life for farmers.
Engr. Detalla highlighted NIA’s dedication to empowering local farmers, saying, “These irrigation systems reflect our commitment to sustainable agriculture and food security in Zamboanga del Norte.”
Local IA representatives expressed heartfelt gratitude to NIA and pledged to maintain the facilities for the benefit of their communities. “This is a huge step forward for our farmers. With reliable irrigation, we can expect better harvests and improved livelihoods,” one IA leader shared.
The turnover event underscores NIA’s unwavering support for the agricultural sector, reinforcing its mission to deliver reliable and efficient irrigation services to Filipino farmers. These projects not only provide immediate solutions to water scarcity but also contribute to long-term food security and rural development in the province.
