Php603,000 Worth of Smuggled Fuel Seized, Four Arrested in Tawi-Tawi Seaborne Operations

Bongao, Tawi-Tawi—Authorities seized an estimated Php603,000 worth of smuggled fuel and confiscated two motorized boats during separate seaborne operations conducted in Barangay Lamion, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, on October 11, 2024.

Police Captain Norman Paul Duaso, Station Commander of the 1st Special Operation Unit (SOU) of Tawi-Tawi Maritime Police Station, identified the arrested suspects as “King,” “Jun,” “Alex,” and “Allan.”

The successful operations, led by personnel from the 1st SOU Tawi-Tawi Maritime Police, resulted in the apprehension of the suspects and the seizure of the smuggled fuel, valued at Php603,000. Additionally, two motorized boats, each estimated to be worth Php350,000, were confiscated.

The suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 10863, also known as the “Customs Modernization and Tariff Act,” for their involvement in smuggling activities.
