Kidapawan City, Philippines – A search warrant operation led by the Kidapawan City Police on the morning of Thursday, October 10, 2024, resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old farmer identified only by the alias “Mar,” in Purok 2, Barangay Sumbac.
The operation, which was carried out around 1:50 AM, involved officers from the Kidapawan City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), along with other supporting units including the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG 12), the 1st Company of the Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 Tracker team, the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Kidapawan, and the Provincial Public Safety Unit.
Authorities recovered five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, weighing two grams and with an estimated street value of Php60,000. Also confiscated was a .38-caliber revolver along with four bullets.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Dominador L. Palgan, chief of the Kidapawan City Police Station, identified the suspect as a “street-level individual” involved in drug activities in the area.
The suspect now faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The Kidapawan PNP has reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-criminality operations in the city, reminding the public that possessing unlicensed firearms is strictly prohibited.
