Tension Rises in Two Barangays: Tugunan and Aleosan Residents Forced to Evacuate

Residents from Barangay Bualan, Sitio Kadingilan in Barangay Lagunde, Tugunan, Special Geographic Area-BARMM, and Barangay Pagangan in Aleosan, North Cotabato, have fled their homes due to rising tension between rival groups both affiliated with the 105th Base Command of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces – Moro Islamic Liberation Front (BIAF-MILF).

According to Abu Mujahid, one of the evacuees, the unrest began after a violent altercation in Sitio Tubak, Barangay Pagangan, Aleosan, which led to the deaths of two individuals:

  1. Abo Hadi Ampatuan, also known as “Alyas Alba”
  2. Mursal Adteg

Both victims were members of the 3rd Brigade under Commander RP of the 105th Base Command, Central Mindanao Front.

Reports suggest that the group involved in the killings, the Macasasa family—who are under the 105th and 108th Base Commands—fled to Barangay Lagunde. Fearing for their safety, local residents decided to leave their homes, worried that the violence would escalate and spread to their community.

The evacuees are now temporarily staying at the covered courts in Barangay Bualan and Barangay Nalpaan, seeking shelter while the situation remains uncertain.

The displaced residents are appealing to authorities to intervene and resolve the conflict, as they find themselves continuously affected by the ongoing violence. They stressed that as civilians, they often bear the brunt of the violence, and are pleading for peace in their communities.
