Coast Guard and MDRRMO Rescue Stranded Individuals Amid Heavy Flooding in Lanao Del Sur

In response to severe flooding caused by heavy rains, the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Lanao Del Sur, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Balabagan, carried out a successful rescue operation on September 13, 2024, at Barangay Lalabuan, Balabagan, Lanao Del Sur.

The coordinated rescue efforts were crucial in assisting individuals stranded by the unprecedented floodwaters. The joint team not only facilitated the evacuation of those in distress but also worked diligently to clear obstacles and vehicles that had become stuck in the mud and impassable roads due to the intense flooding.

By 10:40 PM on the same day, their efforts resulted in the roads becoming passable for light vehicles, improving accessibility and allowing for the continued delivery of essential services and aid to affected areas.

The operation underscores the commitment of both the Coast Guard and MDRRMO to swiftly address disaster-related emergencies and ensure the safety and well-being of the local communities. Their prompt and effective response played a critical role in managing the impacts of the severe flooding and restoring normalcy to the affected areas.
