Cotabato City – In a significant operation, Drug Enforcement Officers from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Sulu Provincial Office successfully seized illegal drugs worth ₱13.6 million and arrested an active police officer along with three others during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Raymundo, Jolo, Sulu on September 12, 2024.
Director Castro of the PDEA Sulu Provincial Office credited the success of the operation to the active support from multiple law enforcement units, including the PNP 54th Special Action Company (SAC) 5th Special Action Battalion (SAB) Special Action Force (SAF), Philippine National Police Sulu Provincial Police Office Provincial Intelligence Unit, Philippine National Police Regional Intelligence Unit IX, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency IX, Patikul Municipal Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Jolo Municipal Police Station, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) IX.
“I commend all the operating units that successfully prevented the attempt of a large volume distribution of illegal drugs in Sulu that could destroy the lives of many people,” Director Castro emphasized.
During the operation, authorities recovered two heat-sealed transparent plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, weighing approximately 2,000 grams. The seized drugs have an estimated standard drug price of ₱13.6 million. Additionally, buy-bust money, two mobile phones, identification cards, bank receipts, and a red XRM motorcycle were confiscated.
The arrested suspects were identified as Pssg Moh Radja P. Ismula, an active Police Non-Commissioned Officer, 49 years old; Andam M. Alidjam, also known as Dan, 65 years old; Midarmi S. Alidjam, 44 years old; and Rahsi Jallaw, 54 years old. The suspects are currently detained at the Patikul Municipal Police Station in Sulu while awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade in the region and highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
