CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) commended its maneuver forces after a successful internal security operation led to the recovery of an arms cache and several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Talakag, Bukidnon.
In a statement, PRO-10 Regional Director PBGen. Christopher N. Abrahano praised the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10) for the Nov. 25, 2025 operation in Sitio Dalagonon, Barangay Lantud, describing it as a “significant gain” in the ongoing campaign to dismantle armed communist groups in Northern Mindanao.
The operation, carried out at around 3:30 p.m., was spearheaded by the 1004th Maneuver Company under the supervision of PLTCOL Bernard E. Pagaduan, OIC of RMFB 10, with support from the 1002nd MC, 1003rd MC, and RECU 10.
Recovered from the site were:
- One shotgun with a defaced serial number
- One magazine
- One anti-vehicle mine IED
- Six improvised electric blasting caps
- One CPP-NPA-NDF flag
Authorities traced the location of the hidden weapons through information provided by a former rebel identified only as “Jinky,” 26, a resident of Barangay Agsabu, Esperanza, Agusan del Norte. She is a PSR-listed former Team Leader of Squad 2, SRC-5, CMRC, who voluntarily surrendered to RMFB 10 on June 4, 2025 in Sitio Talid-Talid, Barangay Dominorog, Talakag.
The seized firearms were brought to the 1004th Maneuver Company headquarters for inventory, while the IEDs and blasting caps will undergo proper disposal procedures at RECU 10 in Camp Capistrano, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City.
Police officials said the successful operation reflects the thrust of Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and the directive of PBGen. Abrahano to intensify efforts against armed groups and ensure sustained peace and security across Northern Mindanao.
