Cagayan de Oro City, November 18, 2025 — A newborn baby boy was discovered alive after being abandoned in an open area in Zone 4, Pasil, Barangay Kauswagan earlier today. The infant, still bearing signs of recent birth, was found by concerned residents who immediately alerted local authorities.

The Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC-Kauswagan) swiftly responded to the scene and rescued the child. He was immediately brought to a nearby medical facility for proper care and evaluation. According to BCPC officials, the baby is now in stable condition and receiving the attention he needs.

In a heartfelt public statement, BCPC-Kauswagan issued a strong appeal to the child’s mother:

“Panawagan sa ginikanan nga mihimo niining paglabay sa bata: Dili kini basura nga dali-dali ra nimo malabay. Kinabuhi kini — imong dakong tulubagon sa Labaw’ng Makagagahom, ug imong konsensiya magpadayon. Hinaot makatulog ka og insakto sa dautang imong binuhatan.”

The council emphasized that abandoning a child is not only a legal offense but a profound moral failing. They urged parents facing crisis pregnancies to seek help from local support groups, social workers, or barangay officials rather than resorting to abandonment.

Authorities are now investigating the incident and working to identify the child’s parents. The BCPC reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable children and called on the community to remain vigilant and compassionate.
