Mindanao – June 21, 2025 — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to influence weather patterns across Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, particularly in the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and SOCCSKSARGEN, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The weather bureau issued a regional forecast at 5:00 AM today, warning residents in affected areas to brace for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains throughout the day and into early tomorrow morning.

Region-Specific Weather Forecasts:

Zamboanga Peninsula

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City are expected to experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest to southeast, with temperatures ranging between 23°C to 33°C and slight to moderate seas.

Northern Mindanao

  • Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 19°C to 32°C, and seas will be slight to moderate.

Davao Region

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate, and temperatures will range from 24°C to 34°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN

  • North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani are forecasted to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Coastal conditions remain slight to moderate, and temperatures will stay between 23°C and 32°C.

Caraga Region

  • Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms. Winds from the east to southeast remain light to moderate, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 33°C.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

  • Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the day and into the night. Residents should watch out for possible flooding. Temperatures range between 23°C to 32°C.

Sea Conditions and Advisory

Winds across the western section of Mindanao will blow from the southwest to southeast, causing slight to moderate seas between 0.6 to 1.2 meters. The rest of the region will have easterly to southeasterly winds, with seas also slight to moderate at 0.5 to 1.0 meters.
