CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 41-year-old man was brutally killed after he was allegedly attacked and stabbed multiple times by three men in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, on January 11, in what authorities described as a vicious and merciless assault.

The victim was identified as Edward Serino, also known by the alias “Gogoy,” a resident of Tambo, Barangay Macasandig. According to police and family members, Serino was alone inside his home when the attack happened.

A death certificate confirmed that Serino sustained 22 stab wounds in different parts of his body, indicating an extremely violent and sustained attack. He was declared dead on the spot due to the severity of his injuries.

Relatives of the victim expressed shock and grief over the killing, saying Serino was living alone and had no known recent conflicts. The brutality of the assault has alarmed residents in the area, raising concerns over safety in the community.

Police said one of the three suspects has already voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 7 in Barangay Nazareth and is now in custody. The identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched an intensive manhunt operation to track down the two remaining suspects who are still at large. Investigators are also working to determine the motive behind the killing, including whether it was driven by personal conflict, robbery, or other criminal intent.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office assured the public that they are exerting all efforts to bring the remaining suspects to justice and to ensure the safety of residents.

The family of the victim is now calling for swift justice, as police continue their investigation into one of the city’s most brutal crimes in recent days.
