LAMITAN CITY — Police authorities have stepped up their campaign against the use of illegal and modified motorcycle mufflers in a sustained effort to reduce road hazards and curb disruptive noise pollution across the city.
Under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Colonel Elmer P. Solon, City Chief of Police, personnel of the Lamitan City Police Station have been conducting strict operations and monitoring activities to ensure full compliance with City Ordinance No. 2014-01. The measure forms part of the local government’s stronger push to maintain peace, order, and safety on roads and in residential areas.
PLTCOL Solon stressed the importance of the initiative, saying the enforcement is aimed at creating safer and more livable communities.
“Our roads are meant to be safe spaces for everyone – motorists, pedestrians, and residents alike. Illegal and modified mufflers do more than just create excessive noise that disturbs our communities; they distract drivers and increase the risk of road accidents. These operations are a clear message that we will enforce our city ordinances to protect the public, while also encouraging every motorcycle owner to take part in building a more responsible and peaceful Lamitan City,” Solon said.
Illegal mufflers and unauthorized modifications are prohibited under local regulations due to their contribution to noise disturbances and potential danger to commuters. Authorities noted that excessively loud exhaust systems can lead to driver distraction, disrupt neighborhoods, and heighten accident risks, particularly in densely populated areas.
The police vowed to continue strict enforcement and regular monitoring to ensure that motorists abide by the ordinance. They also encouraged the public to support the initiative by reporting violators and adhering to legal vehicle standards.
“This campaign is not just about penalties—it’s about promoting discipline, responsibility, and mutual respect on our roadways,” the Lamitan police chief added.
With the ongoing operations, authorities hope to strengthen public awareness and nurture a culture of compliance that prioritizes safety and community welfare, ensuring Lamitan City remains a secure and peaceful place for all.
