San Jose, Dinagat Islands — A businessman was shot while refueling his vehicle at a gasoline station in Barangay Sta. Cruz, San Jose, Dinagat Islands, around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
According to the San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS), they received a call from a concerned resident reporting a shooting incident at the Yalkot Gasoline Station. Responding officers arrived at the scene at around 8:33 a.m. and confirmed the incident. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
The victim was identified as Alan Pulangcos, a businessman and resident of Purok 4, Barangay Don Ruben, San Jose. The suspect was named Marciano Catubig Maribao, 76, also a businessman, and a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, San Jose.
Initial investigation revealed that Pulangcos was refueling his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) when the suspect arrived on a blue Honda XRM 125 motorcycle. Maribao allegedly pulled a .45 caliber pistol from a pink eco bag and shot the victim from behind.
Authorities recovered from the crime scene one .45 caliber pistol, a magazine loaded with five live rounds, one fired cartridge case, and one fired bullet.
Police reports further indicated that the two men had a long-standing personal conflict that began in April 2025, after the suspect had a falling-out with his daughter, who was reportedly the live-in partner of the victim. Investigators believe personal motives triggered the shooting.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is now under the custody of the San Jose Municipal Police Station for further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.
