BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga Oplan Baklas Task Force intensified its campaign against illegal election materials along the road from Barangay Bancasi to Barangay Lemon in Butuan City on March 13, 2025.
The task force, comprising the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), strictly enforced Republic Act No. 3571 and COMELEC Resolution No. 11111. These laws prohibit the posting of campaign materials on trees and electrical posts to protect the environment and ensure public safety.
Led by DENR Caraga’s Team Leader, DMO III Francis Mansalay Jr., the operation resulted in the removal of 399 illegally posted campaign materials. The confiscated posters were accounted for and properly disposed of in accordance with regulations.
Authorities emphasized the importance of responsible campaigning and urged political candidates and their supporters to adhere to designated poster areas. They also warned that violators would face penalties under election and environmental laws.
The Oplan Baklas operation will continue in various areas of Caraga to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of the election process. Officials encouraged the public to report campaign violations and help preserve a clean and orderly election period.
