BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Authorities confiscated around 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱340,000, along with a firearm and ammunition, during a search operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Butuan City Police Station 1 in Purok 6-B, Barangay Baan Riverside on Saturday morning.

Police said the operation was carried out at around 11:00 a.m., targeting a suspect identified only by the alias “Dongkoy,” who had reportedly been under surveillance for some time due to alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
During the raid, operatives recovered the illegal drugs from the suspect’s possession. Authorities also seized one unit of a .45 caliber pistol and a magazine loaded with live ammunition.
The confiscation of both illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm prompted authorities to prepare multiple charges against the suspect. Police said the individual will face cases for violation of Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of the continuing intensified anti-illegal drug campaign in the city, aimed at dismantling local drug networks and reducing the proliferation of dangerous drugs and loose firearms in communities.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether the suspect is connected to a larger illegal drug operation in the area. Police also said additional operations may follow as they continue to track down other individuals possibly linked to the illegal activities.
