DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — A joint anti-drug operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the rescue of a minor during a buy-bust operation on the night of February 4, 2026.

Authorities launched the entrapment operation at around 9:11 p.m. in Purok Tangige, Barangay Dawis, Ciudad, Digos City, resulting in the arrest of a suspect identified only as “Alias Jemar,” a resident of Purok Bangus, Barangay Dawis.
Seized from the suspect’s possession was approximately 33.34 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱226,712.
During the operation, operatives also rescued a 16-year-old minor, identified as “Alias TO,” from Mabini 8, Barangay Zone 3, Digos City. The minor was found in possession of 642.5 grams of dried marijuana leaves, valued at around ₱128,500.
Police said the successful operation prevented the illegal drugs from reaching the streets and further harming the youth and the community.
Longtime Drug Activity
Investigators revealed that “Alias Jemar” has been actively involved in illegal drug activities since 2022, primarily operating in Barangay Dawis, Barangay Aplaya, and nearby areas in Davao del Sur.
Authorities disclosed that the suspect was allegedly capable of distributing up to 50 grams of illegal drugs per week, making him a significant player in the local drug trade.
Legal Action and Welfare Support
The arrested suspect is currently detained at the Digos City Police Station custodial facility and is facing charges for violation of Sections 5 (Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, the rescued minor has been turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for proper care, rehabilitation, and protection.
Renewed Call for Community Support
Law enforcement officials reaffirmed their commitment to intensify anti-drug operations in Digos City and across Davao del Sur, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in dismantling drug networks.
Authorities urged residents to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, emphasizing that collective vigilance is key to protecting families, especially the youth, from the destructive impact of illegal drugs.
“This operation sends a strong message that we will not tolerate drug syndicates exploiting our communities and our children,” police officials said.
Investigations are ongoing to determine possible links to larger drug networks operating in the province.
