Cagayan de Oro City — Police operatives arrested a street-level individual (SLI) and seized nearly 21 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱142,800, along with a .38 caliber revolver, during a late-night drug buy-bust operation on Friday, January 16, 2026, authorities reported.

The operation was carried out around 9:30 p.m. along Capt. Vicente Roa Street, Barangay 27, by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU)–COCPO led by PMAJ Aldren Estrada Baculio, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Station 2–Cogon, and the City Mobile Force Company. The operation was conducted under proper pre-operation authority and in coordination with PDEA Region 10.

Police said the suspect was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative, leading to his immediate arrest. Recovered from the suspect were several sachets of suspected shabu, ₱1,000 buy-bust money, a .38 caliber revolver with four live rounds, a backpack, a Honda ADV motorcycle, a cigarette case, and an Android cellphone.

The arrested individual is currently under the custody of the CDEU-COCPO for documentation and the filing of charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Police authorities reiterated that the intensified campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms will continue as part of efforts to maintain peace and order in the city, warning offenders that law enforcement operations will remain relentless and uncompromising.
