TAGUM CITY — A 25-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the face inside a bar in Purok Bayanihan, Magugpo West, Tagum City at around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 1, following a heated altercation over a karaoke song.

Police identified the victim as Christian Seguira, a resident of Upper Sudlon, Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental, and a harvester by occupation.

According to the report from Tagum City Police Station, the shooting happened inside Expensive Candy Bar while Seguira was drinking with a companion. A waitress, identified only as Cherry, told investigators that tension began when Seguira allegedly grabbed a karaoke song picked by another group at a nearby table, angering the individuals involved.

Moments later, the suspect reportedly stood up, walked away briefly, then returned and suddenly drew a firearm, shooting Seguira point-blank in the cheek.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Davao Regional Medical Center, where he remains under observation for a gunshot wound.

At the crime scene, police recovered an empty shell from a .45-caliber pistol, believed to be the weapon used.

Authorities are now conducting a deeper investigation to identify and track down the suspect, who fled after the incident. Police urged establishments to strengthen security and reminded the public to avoid confrontations, especially in nightlife settings where tempers can easily escalate.

The Tagum PNP has assured the public that pursuit operations are ongoing.
