GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Authorities are investigating a disturbing case after a 7-month-old fetus was discovered buried in an abandoned property in Barangay Mabuhay, General Santos City.

Initial reports from the police revealed that residents of the same area were responsible for burying the fetus. Barangay Kagawad Angelito Tabanao confirmed that the parents were identified as a 23-year-old woman known as Ellah and her live-in partner Gab, 27, both residents of Barangay Dadiangas West.

According to the investigation, the couple’s friend, identified only as Riz, borrowed a shovel to help bury the fetus in a vacant lot that she owns in Barangay Mabuhay.

In a related development, police apprehended a woman—described as a “tomboy” by witnesses—who was seen burying what turned out to be a newborn in the same abandoned lot. A concerned citizen alerted the barangay after noticing suspicious activity involving the suspect and another unidentified woman.

When the concerned resident revisited the site, they found the lifeless infant wrapped in a black blanket. Authorities were immediately notified, prompting a swift police operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

Investigators learned that while the lot was owned by the suspect, she no longer resides in the area. Police are continuing their probe to determine the full circumstances surrounding the burial and to establish the direct involvement of the identified parents.

Meanwhile, local authorities ensured that the remains of the fetus were given a proper burial at a private cemetery in the city on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said charges may be filed pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
