MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Two men were killed while a woman and a five-year-old boy were wounded in a shooting incident that erupted after a heated family argument in Barangay MSU Rapasun, Marawi City, late Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2025.
Police identified the fatalities as Aslanie Taurac Pasaulan, 31, and Abdulfattah Uronga Taurac, 41, both residents of Barangay MSU Rapasun. Wounded in the incident were Hermie C. Pananggolo, a housewife, and Acmad Pimping, 5 years old, who are both being treated at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC).
According to an initial investigation by the Marawi City Police Station (CPS), the altercation began when Abdulrahman D. Pananggolo visited his brother Jun Pananggolo, a retired employee of Mindanao State University (MSU), to retrieve motorcycle registration papers. The conversation escalated into a heated argument, prompting other family members to intervene.
Police said the victims, Pasaulan and Taurac, tried to pacify the brothers. However, Jun Pananggolo, also known as “Omar” or “Mao”, allegedly drew his Glock pistol and fired a warning shot into the air. Moments later, Abubacar Marohombsar Alonto, a former Chief of Traffic at MSU, also pulled out his firearm. Both suspects then opened fire toward the victims, hitting Pasaulan and Taurac fatally.
The victims were rushed to APMC but were declared dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Marawi CPS, led by PLT Saturnino M. Enyaca under the supervision of PLTCOL Muhiddin G. Pagayawan, immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation in coordination with the 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Company (RMFC) and RMFB-14. Checkpoints were also established in various areas to intercept the fleeing suspects.
During the operation, police arrested Abdul Bashit Diron Pananggolo, 53, a resident of Barangay MSU Rapasun, while other suspects — identified as Jun Pananggolo, Abubacar Alonto, Johanah Gumpal Pananggolo, and Saranie D. Pananggolo — remain at large.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. The remains of the deceased victims have been claimed by their families.
The case investigators are Pat. Jamaloden C. Parahiman and Pat. Abdul Khaliem P. Unda of the Marawi City Police Station.
