IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — A joint anti-drug operation late Tuesday night, July 30, 2025, led to the arrest of a drug suspect and the confiscation of suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱68,000.

The operation, conducted around 11:30 p.m. by elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Police Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Ipil Municipal Police Station (MPS), took place in Purok Bato, Barangay Tiayon, Ipil.

Authorities seized two large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 10 grams.

To ensure transparency, the inventory of the seized items was conducted in the presence of a barangay official and a representative from the local media. The confiscated evidence has since been turned over to the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory analysis, while the suspect is currently detained at the Ipil MPS for proper disposition.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Director PCOL Barnard Danie V. Dasugo praised the swift and coordinated effort of the law enforcement units involved in the successful operation.

“This operation highlights the dedication and coordination of our law enforcement units in combating illegal drugs within our communities,” Dasugo stated. “We remain committed to intensifying our efforts to eradicate the drug menace and ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens. I urge the public to continue supporting our initiatives by reporting any suspicious activities to help us achieve a drug-free province.”
