Cagayan de Oro City – May 22, 2025 — In a major blow to the illegal drug trade in Northern Mindanao, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) arrested three drug personalities and confiscated over ₱1.47 million worth of suspected shabu in two separate buy-bust operations conducted on May 21 in Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.

In Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, operatives from the Villanueva Municipal Police Station apprehended two individuals in a buy-bust operation at Purok 3, Barangay Looc. Authorities identified the suspects as alias “Balot,” a 43-year-old high-value target previously incarcerated for a drug-related offense, and alias “Christian,” a 23-year-old female. Both are residents of Villanueva.

Seized from the suspects were approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price estimated at ₱1,360,000. Police also recovered a small sachet used in the buy-bust, a ₱500 marked bill, drug paraphernalia, and personal items. Records show that “Balot” had been released on probation in 2024 for a prior violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165).

Meanwhile, in Valencia City, Bukidnon, a coordinated operation by the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, Valencia City Police Station, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 led to the arrest of alias “Lawlaw,” a 49-year-old carpenter and resident of Barangay Batangan. The operation took place in a local hotel where authorities seized approximately 16.45 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱111,860, a ₱1,000 marked bill, and various personal items.

The total weight of the confiscated drugs from both operations amounted to approximately 216.45 grams, with an estimated combined street value of ₱1,471,860.

All three suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for violating R.A. 9165.

PRO10 Regional Director PBGen Jaysen C. De Guzman lauded the operatives for their successful operations and reaffirmed the regional police’s commitment to fighting illegal drugs.

“We commend our operatives for their courage and dedication in a successful anti-drug operation. This reflects our continued commitment to protecting communities and eliminating illegal drugs. Drugs have no place in our society. We urge the public to report any suspicious activities, especially those related to drugs. Together, we can build a safer, drug-free community,” De Guzman said.

Authorities continue to intensify anti-drug efforts across Northern Mindanao as part of the government’s broader campaign against illegal narcotics.
