Davao City – In its continuing campaign against illegal drugs, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) scored a significant win with the arrest of a suspected drug peddler and the seizure of over ₱123,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in the early hours of May 15, 2025.
The operation, conducted around 3:50 A.M. in Evergreen, Barangay Dumoy, was led by Police Station 17 – Baliok under the command of PMaj Harold S. Untalan. The suspect was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs, resulting in the confiscation of shabu with an estimated street value of ₱123,148.
DCPO Acting City Director PCol Hansel M. Marantan lauded the efforts of the Baliok police team for their commitment and professionalism in executing the high-impact operation.
“This accomplishment reflects not only the dedication of our police force but also the importance of collaboration with local officials and the community in addressing the drug problem,” Marantan said in a statement.
Authorities highlighted the operation as a product of strong coordination between the police, barangay officials, the Davao City local government, and vigilant residents. The DCPO emphasized that the fight against illegal drugs is a shared responsibility and called on the public to continue supporting efforts to eliminate the drug menace.
Illegal drugs continue to pose a serious threat to public safety, contributing to crimes, broken families, and the endangerment of youth. Officials warned that drug abuse can rob children of their future, leading to a cycle of addiction and lost potential.
The DCPO encouraged all Davaoeños to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their communities. “This is a call to action,” said Marantan. “Let us work together to create a safer, drug-free Davao City where the hopes and dreams of our children can flourish.”
The arrested suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
