TARAKA, Lanao del Sur – Authorities confiscated an estimated ₱3.4 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a suspected drug dealer during a buy-bust operation on Friday morning, May 23, in Barangay Sunding, Taraka, Lanao del Sur.
The operation, conducted around 11:00 a.m., was a joint effort by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), the 45th Special Action Company (SAC) of the 4th Special Action Battalion (SAB), and the Taraka Municipal Police Station.
The suspect, reportedly a business owner from Lumba-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur, was apprehended after selling a transparent plastic bag containing approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu to an undercover operative. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized illegal drugs at ₱3.4 million.
The suspect is now under the custody of PDEA-BARMM and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a statement, Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), emphasized their unwavering commitment to combatting illegal drugs.
“PRO-BAR ensures the continued aggressive conduct of anti-illegal drug operations targeting high-value individuals and local personalities involved in drug activities,” Macapaz said. “This is part of our intensive and unrelenting campaign against the trafficking and use of dangerous drugs and other similar substances in the Bangsamoro region through an integrated system of planning, implementation, and enforcement.”
Law enforcement agencies have pledged to sustain strong coordination to dismantle drug networks and prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs across the region.
