ZAMBOANGA CITY — A 50-year-old man was arrested and over ₱2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during a buy-bust operation conducted by local authorities on the evening of April 2, 2025, as part of the continuing crackdown on illegal drugs in the city.
Operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Unit 9 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office 9 (PDEA-RO9), carried out the operation around 9:00 PM along Sampaloc Drive in Barangay Baliwasan.
The suspect, a resident of the same barangay, was caught in possession of approximately 305 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱2,074,000. He was immediately brought to the ZCPO Headquarters for further investigation. The confiscated drugs were turned over to the Zamboanga City Forensic Unit 9 for laboratory examination.
In a statement, Police Brigadier General Roel C. Rodolfo, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9), commended the operatives for their swift and decisive action.
“This successful operation is a testament to the dedication and relentless efforts of our law enforcement units in the fight against illegal drugs,” Rodolfo said. “We remain resolute in dismantling drug networks, protecting our communities, and upholding peace and order across the region.”
Authorities assured the public that operations against drug-related activities will continue as part of the national government’s intensified campaign against narcotics.
