In a significant triumph against smuggling, the Leon Postigo Municipal Police Station of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9) successfully conducted an anti-smuggling operation that led to the arrest of a male suspect and the confiscation of smuggled cigarettes valued at over ₱5.8 million.
The operation took place at 4:00 AM on January 15, 2025, in Barangay Poblacion, Leon Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte. Authorities seized 102 master cases of undocumented cigarettes, with an estimated market value of ₱5,844,600.00, based on Bureau of Customs pricing standards.
The suspect, along with the contraband, was brought to the Leon Postigo Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and the filing of charges in accordance with the law.
PRO 9 has reiterated its commitment to combating illegal smuggling activities in the region, aiming to protect the safety and economic stability of local communities.
