Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City – A joint operation by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Police Station 4 of the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) led to the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of illegal drugs worth ₱1 million in Purok Lakambini, Brgy. Tubod, Iligan City on October 17, 2024.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Stephen,” a 51-year-old resident of the area, was apprehended following the execution of Search Warrant No. 148-2024. The warrant was issued for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The operation was conducted under PDEA Pre-ops No. 30002-102024-0325.
During the search, authorities confiscated 17 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The total weight of the seized drugs was 150 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱1,020,000.
According to police records, “Stephen” had previous arrests in 2016 and 2017 for similar violations of R.A. No. 9165. In 2016, he was charged with Section 15, Article II, and in 2017, he faced charges for Sections 5 and 11 of the same law.
The suspect is now in the custody of the CDEU-ICPO for documentation, with a case for violation of Section 11, Article II of R.A. No. 9165 set to be filed.
Police Regional Office 10 Acting Director, PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, praised the successful operation, emphasizing the continued commitment of law enforcement in Region 10’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Your police force in Region 10 remains steadfast in the fight against illegal drugs. We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities in their communities,” PBGEN De Guzman stated.
