CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Authorities from the 4th Platoon, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of Lanao del Norte intercepted smuggled cigarettes valued at ₱155,200 during an Overlapping Checkpoint operation in Purok-1, Bansarvil 1, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, on October 15, 2024.
The operation revealed 194 reams of New Berlin cigarettes hidden inside a Maroon Toyota Innova with plate number KAP 2343. Authorities reported that the cigarettes originated from Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, and were being transported to Magsaysay, Lanao del Norte.
The seized contraband has been turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Iligan for further investigation.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), praised the team for their swift action. He reiterated the importance of maintaining vigilance in curbing illegal activities in Northern Mindanao. He assured that law enforcement would continue to intensify operations to safeguard the region from smuggling activities that harm both the local economy and public safety.
