₱1.2 Million Worth of Shabu Seized in Cagayan de Oro Drug Bust

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU10), in coordination with various law enforcement units, successfully apprehended two individuals and seized suspected shabu valued at over ₱1.2 million during a buy-bust operation conducted on October 21, 2024, in Zone 3, Barangay Balubal, Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspects were identified as alias “Rico,” a 45-year-old resident of Zone 2, Barangay Balubal, and alias “Princess,” a 20-year-old from Purok 3, Quarry, Galaxy, Barangay Gusa. The two are live-in partners and both residents of Cagayan de Oro City.

During the operation, authorities confiscated 14 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing a total of 180 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱1,224,000. Additional evidence collected included a sling bag, a weighing scale, a coin purse, a pouch, a cellular phone, and a ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

Records indicate that alias “Rico” had previously been convicted in 2019 for violating Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while alias “Princess” is identified as a first-time offender. Investigators revealed that the couple was allegedly sourcing their illegal drug supply from Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City.

Both suspects are currently detained in a custodial facility pending further legal proceedings.

PBGEN Jasyen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of PRO10, commended the operating units for their successful operation. “This operation underscores our continuous efforts to eradicate illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao. We will remain relentless in our fight to ensure the safety of our communities,” he stated.
