In a significant victory against illegal drug activities, the Malaybalay City Police Station, part of the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, conducted a successful buy-bust operation on September 13, 2024, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of shabu valued at over ₱800,000.
The operation took place in Purok 3, Barangay 9, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. The arrested individuals were identified as alias “Ana,” 42, and alias “Pedrito,” 39. “Ana” is a resident of Barangay 10, Malaybalay City, while “Pedrito” resides in Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City. Notably, “Ana” had a prior arrest record with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in 2017 under Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. “Pedrito” is a newly identified drug suspect.
During the buy-bust operation, authorities confiscated eight small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The total weight of the shabu was 120.68 grams, with an estimated market value of ₱820,624.00. Additionally, two mobile phones, a zip-lock transparent plastic bag, and ₱500.00 in buy-bust money were seized from the suspects.
The arrested suspects are now in the custody of the Malaybalay City Police Station, where they will face charges under Sections 5 and 11, Article II of R.A. No. 9165. The case will be formally filed against them as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.
PBGEN Ricardo G. Layug Jr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), commended the Malaybalay City Police Station for their effective operation. “I would like to reiterate our commitment to curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region. We will never let up until illegal drug peddlers are placed behind bars,” PBGEN Layug stated. He further urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement in the fight against illegal drugs. “To the operating unit, keep up the good work,” he added, emphasizing the importance of continued efforts in drug enforcement.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing dedication of local police forces in the region to tackle drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
